1 September 2001 - Daniel Allen ('00)

After graduation, Danny worked during the summer, 2000 with Profs. Koetke, Manweiler, and Stanislaus in reserach in nuclear and particle physics. Specifically, he helped at VU in the preparation of electronics boards for the TWIST experiment at TRIUMF, Vancouver, BC Canada and in doing some Monte Carlo studies regarding particles emitted from the target in which the muons stopped. In August, Danny agreed to go to Vancouver, BC to work on-site with the people there in the delicate and demanding task of fabricating the wire chambers for the particle detector system. He lived and worked there until shortly before Christmas when he, and a friend from Indiana took a *long* drive back to Indiana via the southwestern US, going all the way down the west coast to Carlsbad, NM and points in between.

In January, Danny went back to Vancouver to continue his work on the detector fabrication. [Editor's note: Danny was in high demand by the people at TRIUMF for his exceptionally careful work.] In July, he returned back to Indiana, and in late August moved to Valparaiso where he is now living. He is helping to teach some PHYS-141 labs (3) and working on simulation studies for the TWIST experiment here at VU.

Danny plans on attending graduate school beginning in fall, 2002.
