15 March 2001 - Marty Fix ('95)
Hello. I thought I'd give an update. I'm in my second semester at University of North Texas (UNT) and doing well. I started as a TA in astronomy. Which was different. I was tempted to start the labs by saying, "four score and seven months ago, I took an astronomy class. Now I'm stuck teaching it." I'm glad I'm a pack rat when it comes to books.
Starting this summer, I'm beginning a research assistantship with Dr. Shiner on determining the fine structure constant using helium. I started working with him the first semester, but I got bogged down with classes. I'm taking research for credit with him this semester and I enjoy it far better than the classes.
