6 October 2000 - Ray Hively ('84)
Thanks for the [homecoming] invitation, but I will be out on more training classes for work. I've been on the road 8 of the last 9 weeks. I still enjoy it and the company even gave me a nice raise, promotion, and bonus for a job well done in Q3. Not too bad I guess. It's nice to have them acknowledge a lot of work.
I just finished the training materials for the new software release and taught from just this week. It was a major rewrite that addresses a lot of issues customers have had. It also is being used by the other course developers in the company as a guide to writing their manuals since the customer feedback had been heavily in favor of my technique. Maybe I'll get another raise this quarter. :-) In case you don't know, I'm teaching training classes on PSpice.
I almost stopped in Valpo a week ago since I was driving back to O'Hare from visiting my mom in Indiana, but I was running a little late and decided against it. I do stop off in Chicago frequently now, so I am hoping I can stop by one of these days. The company forces us to fly United, which is why I'm hitting Chicago so much now. Hey, free weekend stopover that keeps my mom happy and me in nice warm California around Christmas time.
This week was Santa Ana, next is San Jose, then Detroit, then Van Nuys, then Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and finally NASA in Florida. I was there teaching a class when Glenn landed, so I'm getting to see a lot of exciting things.
I hope to see you one of these weeks.
Ray
