13 October 1999 Grant Kiehne ('92)

I am a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Deptartment of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University. In this capacity, I do research in applied optics, with particular interest in nonlinear optical effects in photonic structures, such as thin film stacks, photonic band gap materials, and optical waveguides. My work is a challenging mix of thin film deposition, materials processing (e.g., etching, annealing), modeling and simulation, and optical characterization.
