4 July 2001 - Laura Nickerson ('96)
I had a great first year teaching at IMSA [Illinois Math and Science Academy] and am really enjoying my summer off. :) I'm doing a few neat things this summer to keep me busy. I'm taking an online course to refresh my astronomical image processing skills so that my students will be able to use images from major telescopes in my astronomy course. I'm also spending two weeks at the AAPT conference in Rochester, NY. During the first week I will be in training to be a PTRA (Physics Teaching Resource Agent), which enables me to act as a resource for physics teachers all over Chicagoland. I'm really looking forward to the conference.
I may have told you that I bought a house (a townhouse actually) just south of Aurora in the town of Oswego, and I'll be redecorating a bit this summer also.
Take care,
Laura
