I am currently the Technical Specialist in the Valparaiso University Department of Physics and Astronomy. The job is extremely varied. I work mostly with computers and laboratory equipment (but sometimes I drill holes in walls). I also work on the department's nuclear and particle physics research team.
My wife and I work with our church youth group planning activities, trips, and service projects. I was reacently elected Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Northwest Indiana Lutheran High School Association. The NWILHS plans to start classes for Duneland Lutheran High School in the fall of 2000 in Michigan City, IN.
I was hired directly out of college by the VU Physics and Astronomy department to work on some research at LosAlamos National Lab. The position became a general technical support staff position the following year. My time is split between local support for the computer resources in the science departments and some research work with the physics department. The research work occasionally takes me to such places as Los Alamos, New Mexico, Fermilab in IL, and TRIUMF in Vancouver, BC Canada.
