21 January 2000 - James Sternberg ('91)

I thought I would tell you that I have graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. My specialty was atomic theory and my dissertation was about finding variationally convergent upper and lower bounds to the exact eigenenergies of the hydrogen atom in a constant magnetic field problem. I have also accepted a JSPS fellowship to work at the Photon Factory in Tsukuba, Japan for two years. I will be continuing theoretical research there and collaborate with several Japanese theorists that I know. However, since I will be working for an experimental group, I also look forward to gaining more experimental experience. I will keep everyone updated.
