MEGA detector description published

November 1998

Profs. Donald Koetke, Robert Manweiler, and Shirvel Stanislaus and Technical Specialist Paul Nord have co-authored an article with other research colleagues titled "Construction and performance of MEGA's low-mass, high-rate cylindrical MWPC's" in the November 1998 issue of Nuclear Instruments and Methods (Elsevier). The article describes the innovative particle detection devices which were designed, developed, tested, fabricated, and used for the MEGA experiment at Los Alamos National Laboratory, a process which took over seven years to successfully complete. The experiment is (finally!) nearing the end of the analysis phase and the results are expected to be published in 1999. The work is funded by the U. S. Department of Energy.
