April 2001
In April 2001 three junior and one senior physics and astronomy majors were honored with the University Lumina awards for scholarly achievement. Requirements for the award include an overall Grade Point Average of 3.60/4.00. The awardees for this year are: Benett Bootz, Carol Braun, Lisa Neef, and Amber Schober. (Lisa Neef is actually a senior student and will graduate in May, 2001. Her award was delayed because she spent the 1999-00 academic year studying physics at the University of Tuegingen in Germany.) The awards were given in a ceremony on 1 April 2001 in the Great Hall of the Student Union. Families and friends of the awardees and faculty representatives of the academic departments were on hand to help recognize these academic achievements. The reception following the awards was a pleasant time to visit with parents and the award recipients.
